When walking past my fridge I noticed a smell similar to nail varnish that's filling the kitchen and bathroom. Are there any substances in a fridge that smell similar to nail varnish, and are they dangerous? What other possibilities are there?Fridge smells like nail varnish?
A frig can make all kinds of smells. The water pan under the refer can fill up and stink. It could be a freon leak (ammonia in newer models) Their is an oil in the compressing unit could be leaking. Could be your wife's nail polish that she put in the freezer to keep fresh? Or a dead rodent under it rotting. Maybe a mold issue.
I would turn it off and clean it from top to bottom and let completely thaw out then tilt it back and clean the bottom. ';Do not lay it down on the one side or the other.'; However they say new models are able to be laid down but I have not heard that from a reliable source.
