How can i get of sticky labels from plastic.I have tried nail varnish remover even petrol.?

you can get proprietary sticky stuff remover (i think it's called 'sticky stuff remover' :-)

acetone and petrol are the same type of solvent as meths, so if they don't work, i doubt meths/ surgical spirit will workHow can i get of sticky labels from plastic.I have tried nail varnish remover even petrol.?
get a nail remover and leave it on for a minute or two then get a old toothbrush then put hairspry or alchohol with water then brush on the sticky part.

do it for 5 mins, after that get a piece of old cloth and rub it down with plain hot water....

then it should go away! How can i get of sticky labels from plastic.I have tried nail varnish remover even petrol.?
A citrus cleaner or actual citris juice will work. There is also a product called goo gone that works great.
I use furniture polish and rub really hard with a dry cloth
Try products like Goo Gone.

Personally, I use Elmer's Sticky Out. It's not harsh or chemical-intensive. It smells like citrus oil, and gets off all the adhesive left behind by stubborn labels.

The bottle says that it ';removes crayon, labels, most glues, stickers, tape, oil paint, rubber cement, and more!';

You can find it at hardware stores, large retailers, or office suppliers.
WD 40. or almost any kind of oil. it dissolves the glue.
Kim and Aggie say WD40 too
Goof off or Goo gone, both work great.
WD40. You won't believe how well it works (if a little smelly)
Sometimes heating it up with a hairdryer is all that is needed without actually wetting the label with anything
This has been the bane of my life for years and I鈥檝e cursed the guy who invented them .

Any sort of solvent e.g. nail varnish remover, thinners, petrol, meths etc, sure gets the label off

鈥?some very rapidly but usually melts, frosts, or just plain dissolves plastic or cellulose paint .

鈥?Till someone told me to use WD 40

- wow - this really works and if there is any residual oilyness after wiping, a little talc powder on a cloth will take away the slippyness and smell.
My mom always told me to use hairspray.
meths (metholate spirit) or vinegar
white spirit
In the kitchen shop called Lakeland they sell Sticky Stuff Remover, that more or less removes sticky labels from most everything.
Look for a wonderful solvent product called 'sticky stuff remover' it comes in a small bottle and is perfect for the job you describe. Petrol is not such a good idea unless you intend to burn the lot anyway :)
I always use cooking oil - smear it on the night before when I'm going to bed, and then in the morning use a dishcloth or similar with hot soapy water and it comes off with a bit of scrubbing. Also used WD40 and in the past have sat picking away for hours!!

  • Anyone got any tips for removing nail varnish from a dress. i have already tried nail polish remover?

i once read in a mag to put it in the freezer then it should pick off, i didnt try it, but i suppose its worth a go?Anyone got any tips for removing nail varnish from a dress. i have already tried nail polish remover?
use a thinner or petrol or methilated spirit dipped in a cotton ball %26amp;wipe it offAnyone got any tips for removing nail varnish from a dress. i have already tried nail polish remover?
If the nail polish remover didn't work, petrol will. Take a clean cloth and wet it with petrol. Rub over the stain and leave it soak a while. Rub over with a dry cloth. Then repeat with petrol. It will come out.
Alas, but after five years of trying I have to say that nothing yet made will remove the nail varnish without leaving another and possiably worse stain. Petrol (gas) will only stain worse, as will any oil based product, and varnish/polish thinners have the undesired side effect of both thinning the fabric and damaging the fabric color.
    Vanish, stain removal.

How do u take nail varnish of a leather suite?

Please do not try nail varnish remover or any other solvent as this will remove finish and possibly colour from the leather.

You may be lucky and find that it peels off depending what type of leather you have. If it does it may still leave a mark or remove the colour.

Nail varnish remover will definitely remove the pigment from your suite as well as the nail varnish, you will then have another difficult problem to resolve. No available cleaners for leather will remove this type of damage so you have to resort to solvents which like the nail varnish remover will remove pigment. Therefore this is a job for a trained leather technician.

Contact LTT on 01423 881027 to find a trained technician in your area if you are in the UK. Please be warned that any DIY remedies you find WILL damage your leather and it is best left to the professionals.

I would just use nail varnish remover but keep it as confined as possable.

if you dont leave it on very long i doubt it will do too much damage, but to be sure simple rub a VERY small amount onto a hidden part of the leather to see the affect first.

I cant see a problem with this.
    don't think so.
some cleaners have a lather place to send it to it's not cheap
You could try rubbing it with alcohol, or try freezing it of . Put a couple of ice cubes in a bag and rub over the varnish, then scrape of with a blunt knife, I was about to say nail varnish remover , but sometimes it does麓t work ,some people suggest hairspray.

Does wearing nail varnish everyday make your nails turn yellow?

Yes. It stains the nail beds. It also deprives the nails from O2. Soak them in hydrogen peroxide.Does wearing nail varnish everyday make your nails turn yellow?
not if you apply a clear base coat underneath to protect your nails.Does wearing nail varnish everyday make your nails turn yellow?
yeah! just make sure ye take it of at night
SOmetime.s. depends on the ingredients of the polish.. I think I heard fermaldahide was one of those ingredients that will trun your nails yellow. Could be wrong..
Yeah, wearing nail varnish everyday makes your nails turn yellow because they need to breath oxygen.
Yes it does. You ALWAYS need a base coat in order to stop your nails from discoloring due to nail polish. The colors in nail polish redistributes itself onto the nail when you don't use a base coat causing the discoloration to occur.
If you don't apply a clear base coat your nails won't get anough oxygen so they can't grow.
If you leave dark colored nail polish for an extended period of time - yes. Your best bet is to apply a really good basecoat (think OPI or even Sally Hassen) before you put any more polish on those nails!

*To make your color last longer with little chipping - apply coats of polishes in thin coats. Don't forget to top it off with a shiny top coat!

    Best of luck!
apply a base coat first -- that will help the nail polish from staining your nails. If you do have yellow nails try lemon juice to remove the stains. Also change your nail polish once a week- this could help too .
Your nails need a little time to ';breathe.'; Expose them to the air every now and then. :)

You can wear polish for 10-14 days at a time.

They don't turn yellow, they are stained yellow. You an avoid this by using a clear polish before the colored polish.
if there is formaldehyde in the polish then the answer is yes that is what causes the nails to turn yellow so using a clear base coat wont help if it also contains the chemical.

  • Is black nail varnish gothic or fashionable?

i am a very girlie girl and i am 2 minded about getting black nail varnish iv seen it on celebrities and i think it looks nice but not sure if it would suit me.Is black nail varnish gothic or fashionable?
I'm a girly girl as well and I do wear black polish. BUT I only wear it on my toes. I won't wear it on my fingernails because then I think it is a bit harsh. The trick with that is if you prefer the look of a dark polish, just use something like a burgundy or a dark brown on your fingers. It's still fashionable, just a little less harsh. Is black nail varnish gothic or fashionable?
It can be either. Gothic people wear black nail polish, but it is considered fashionable now too. I wear black nail polish and I'm neither gothic nor fashionable.
opinions differ but i think it comes across as gothic... not befitting for a girly girl image
if you're girly then i wouldn't do it but its not gothic it is fashionable...but not for barbie girls. you will look like a poser...

How to remove clear nail varnish from a carpet please?

Really depends on your carpet. Is the material natural or synthetic?

Natural (wool mostly) material won't suffer from a acetone treatment, however - the dye might disappear. Try first on the back of the carpet to see if there's any discolouration. If this is a fitted carpet, try at some hidden corner if the colour changes.

In case of synthetic material, do the same - the nail varnish remover might not cause too much harm.

If you have a cut pile and the varnish hasn't penetrated too far down, you can even try carefully to ';shave'; off some of the top.Don't try this with a loop pile, though...How to remove clear nail varnish from a carpet please?
If the carpet is coloured then decide which is worse - the clear nail polish or a big white spot in your carpet, because if you use nail polish remover (acetone) on coloured carpet, it will most likely remove at least some of the dye from the carpet.

Nail polish remover is pretty much the only thing that will get it out though. How to remove clear nail varnish from a carpet please?
I would contact a carpet place and ask them.
I spilt some a while ago on my black leather sofa and used nail varnish to remove it. It did the trick and didn't burn a hole in it or make a mark even!
Blott on some nail varish remover.
Have you tried nail varnish remover? it usually works but just use abit at a time or it will fade your carpet.
If its clear, whats the problem?
Acetone will do it /nail varnish remover. good luck

I suggest black paint and a slight touch of fesis with a pinch of garlic, This will sort any problems like that out

Carpets are acrylic. Nail polish remover/acetone will MELT your carpet, leaving a hard area.

try using nail varnish remover...very sparingly!

Great for toenails - don't like it so much on fingernails. It's summer and sandal season - show those toes off! :)What do you think of really bright coloured nail varnish?!?
yes i love it especially in summer and especially pink !
i think they are great, my favourite is bright blue. try doing each nail a different bright colour.
i love it...bright pinks %26amp; reds - perfect for nails - go for it!! - put a glossy top coat on as well...to make them shine!
love it brighter the better i say
if you have good nails.... go for it.... summer is the best time
i think its so cute...i love it when someone makes a statement!
I think darker colours look better, I don't bother about toenails but concentrate on my fingernails as they get the most attention.
Way summer to go ! As long as you're female .
Depends on the occasion and the outfit! Great for going out and parties, not so good for work xx
Its alright on your toes but too much on your nails.
    tarty
I love it i can grow my fingernails very long and also put it on my toenails. if u put a coat of clear on top it looks shinny and it looks even better with a bit of fake tan :-)
yes if you white it would look summery but I tell you to use some citrussy yellows, green, reds, raspberry and baby pinks just thought you might like to know how my sister of 9 advises you
I think that's really cute for summer
Go for it. Mine are deep purple at the moment. I tend to wear purples and dark blues, sometimes black.
    white or clear.hot.
Ok for the first few hours and then it looks tacky when it chips off.
I've got my toenails a bright pink at the moment, but am finding the colour clashes with a lot of my clothes and shoes!

I'm changing it for a slightly more neutral colour!
Go for it! Bright colours your whole life I say.

I'm a Beauty Therapist and Nail Technician so my natural nails are always brightly coloured with bio sculpture gel, either as a full colour or just the tips brightly coloured. At the moment I have a Bright Yellow gel on my fingers (with gold foil) and Firetruck Red on my toes( with a few rhinestones). My mum has bright violet on her fingernails and toes. My sister has White French with foil (nail art ) on her fingernails and black on her toes.

Honestly too many people simply follow the trends for their nail colour which can be very broing so its good that you are being an individual and wearing something nice and bright.

Pink on the toes with a line of glitter polish or a slash of glitter or another colour across the big toe nail looks great :)
it looks trashy, cheap and nasty
some bright colours look great i love bright fushia and red. but ive seen orange , blue and green on grown women and it looks odd to me. pink should look great especially for spring/summer so go for it!!!
Good for toenails, or fingernails if you're young (under 30) but looks tarty on older women (I'm 48 and mine are pale pink)
i think you should colour your toenails pink.

Why when reboring do u have to use acetone free nail varnish remover?

does anybody know why you have to use a acetone free nail varninch remover when removing the dolls factory paint? and what happens if you use a nail varnish remover with acetone in it?Why when reboring do u have to use acetone free nail varnish remover?
Let me see if I got this right:

You are preparing for ';Reboring'; a doll's paint off and wonder if you must use acetone-free nail 'varnich' remover? Why when reboring do u have to use acetone free nail varnish remover?
I know this much: acetone is bad for your nails.

When removing nail polish with an acetone free nail

polish remover it is much harder to rub off and

requires more paper towels than desired.

If it's bad for your nails, imagine what it would do to

    the dolls.

If that helps at all . . .
Acetone might have a bad effect on or damage the surface of the dolls, so they want you to use a solvent with no acetone in it.

You should follow the instructions of the manufacturer of the product regarding solvents for removing the paint because they know what works and what would damage the product, however if they have an 800 number you could call and ask them directly.

What brand of Neon pink nail varnish do nail salons use (uk)?

(united kindgom)What brand of Neon pink nail varnish do nail salons use (uk)?
OPI makes excellent, salon quality nail polish. I like the color ';Shorts Story'; when I'm in a Barbie-Pink mood. :)

For the matte (versus glossy) finish, use a top coat like Nail Life. I use it as a base *and* top coat then gently buff the top of my dry nails with a buffing square. Use the finest side.

This is great and makes your nails stronger, too! What brand of Neon pink nail varnish do nail salons use (uk)?
Virgin Vie do a nice colour that can be found in both their shops and xtras. Also, OPI is an amazing make and is used in all of the professional salons. New Look have some decent one for cheap prices in their shops too.
I was looking for the same colour, and the only place I could find one was nails inc. (available at debenhams)

Also avon and miss sporty have well priced bright pinks, but they are not as fluorescent.

    Hope this helps :)

  • How can i stop my nail varnish getting thick?

my nailvarnish gets really thick and sticky

what can i do to prevent it from happening

and how can i make them thin again

thanksHow can i stop my nail varnish getting thick?
Keep it cool. Ideally put it in the fridge (buy a little one specially for this purpose!), but if you can't do that, then keep in dark, and out of the light, and in the coolest spot you can find. If you want to make them thin again, shake it as much as possible, and put them in the fridge. If that doesn't help, then short of buying new polish, there isn't much you can do.How can i stop my nail varnish getting thick?
It won't work forever but, if your nail varnish is getting a little too thick to use, you can take a few drops of nail polish remover and add it into the varnish. Shake well! The varnish will thin out and be usable again! You can only use this trick a few times before the varnish isn't useful anymore but its a very handy trick when you don't have any other nail varnish around. Hope this helped!
I'm guessing....nail varnish is nail polish? haha if its not disregard all of the following information lol. Um to make it thinner add a bit of nail polish remover to the bottle and until you get the consistency you want. hope this helps ^-^ good luck

Why can't I wear nail varnish during an operation?

I am having my tonsils removed on Wednesday I am also having a general anesthetic, and I have been told to remove all nailvarnish form finger and toe nails.. I am also not alloud to wear make-up...

I can understand that because they are working near my face that make-up is unhygenic.. but nail varnish??

Can anyone explain? Why can't I wear nail varnish during an operation?
The colour of your skin underneath the nails can provide the anaesthetist with a good indication of your circulation and oxygenation of the blood. He/she is keeping you alive whilst under a G/A and needs all the help they can get.Why can't I wear nail varnish during an operation?
as they put monitoring devices on your finger and toe which records heart rate and oxygen levels. if you have nail polish on the sensors cant work properly.
By observing the nails they can tell if you are getting enough oxygen. Which I think is enough reason not to wear it don't you ?

What else can you use to remove nail varnish?

i have run out of nail varnish remover but i have to remove the stuff i am wearing, does anyone know of any easy ways to get it off apart from scratching it off?????What else can you use to remove nail varnish?
hairspray. spray it on to cotton wool just as you would nail polish remover. it takes a bit longer but the results are the sameWhat else can you use to remove nail varnish?
    Bite it off.it won't kill you.I have.
    Hairspray works
Sellotape. I used it ages ago when mine chipped. Work it into the creases of your nail and rip off. Just buffer your nail afterwards.
Try rubbing alcohol, but you might have to put some effort into it. If you're an artist, or know of any, paintbrush cleaner will work a treat, too.
use a bottle of acetone, but be careful or you'll mess up your hands.
Use the same nail polish and quick remove it before it dries.
    a knife
i put a coat of a light color nail polish on then rub it off before it dries. It makes the original nail polish liquid again :)
a black and decker sander - screws up your cuticles but what the hell - you only live once!

If the sofa is leather, some shops sell ballpoint pen removal. This may

help. Mine was cream leather it faded a little. Try it on a place that

does'nt show first.I purchased mine from a furniture shop.
drown the stain in nail polish remover.

then scrub the hell out of it.
Nailpolish remover or paint thinner/stripper, if you have it. If not, I'm not sure anything else will work but you can let it dry and try to scrape off the bits.

Whats the best colour nail varnish to choose when wanting a neutral manicure?

Sheer pink, sheer peach, or sheer beige - just shine, and it intensifies your own natural nail bed colour.Whats the best colour nail varnish to choose when wanting a neutral manicure?
clear, pink or buff are your best bets depending on your finger nails. I had clear recently done that looked very nice. but usually use Seche Rose. My nail beds are very pinky colored and buff looks weird on them.

Can using clear nail varnish on fingernails help prevent biting?

ive been biting my fingernails ever since i was a toddler but i really want to stop. none of the bitter tasting products from the shops work on meCan using clear nail varnish on fingernails help prevent biting?
No, it will just make them shiny. It won't change the texture or thickness of your nails, it will be just like you have nothing on them. Do you chew on them below the natural line? Can you cut them realllllly short with clippers so there's nothing to chew? Have you ever tried getting a proffessional manicure so they look nice then you won't be as likely to ruin the look. Guys can get manicures, too, just ask them to buff, no polish or a matte polish.

I'm sorry you have the habit, sounds like smoking or an oral fixation habit. Try to remember that things you touch are dirty and you're putting your fingers in your mouth. Try to disgust yourself a little, haha. I had a friend that did it without thinking and she wore bandaids when no one was around to break the cycle. Maybe try gloves? I dunno... good luck! Can using clear nail varnish on fingernails help prevent biting?
I don't think clear nail polish will work try stopping one finger nail at a time by picking 1 say your left thumb nail and promising your self you are not going to bite that 1 today then tommorrow if you managed that easily move on to 2 nails if you are still struggling stay with the thumb until you are confuident and then go to 2 until you are coping with that by this time you should have 2 noticibly longer nails then go to 3, 4, 5 and so on until you are only allowed to bite 1 nail then cut that one out too.

I did it that way I had tried allsorts and it worked for me I have lovely long nails now

    Good luck hun
Nope. Try soaking your nails in vinegar, lemon juice, coffee or some other liquid you can't stand the taste of.

You can do that but figure out WHY your biting in the first place, maybe a insecurity or another deep rooted problem.

    Good luck.
If the products like No Bite don't work for you, then I don't think that clear nail polish will help.
I'm a nail biter as well and i cant stop Lol i don't know if it works but would like to know as well =]

its just like a mood ring. its kinda cool, but could be embarrassing i guess

Could i use permanent marker as a cheap substitute for nail varnish?

Yes, but know that it doesnt last long at all. In fact, it can wear off within minutes. Also, most permanent markers are the same price or slightly more expensive (like 5 cents) more than some nail polishes. Try NYC or something. If you have a WalMart or KMart close by, check out ALL of their shelves. Usually there's something below a dollar on one of the shelves. There are these itty bitty bottles called Bon Bons... kinda crap, but cheap! Again, look for NYC make-up products. The eyeliner and nail polish are the only really good products they have.Could i use permanent marker as a cheap substitute for nail varnish?
Sure, go the Ghetto look.Could i use permanent marker as a cheap substitute for nail varnish?
you could but i don't recommend it you should just run to the nearest store and buy some!!
What part of PERMANENT dont u get?
please don't do that. The ink is harmful and poisonous to your body if left for long periods.
SURE GO (NOT) i advise you dont it would really mess up ur nails after you continue ti do it 4 a while
    that's a very bad idea
And women wonder why they get breast (and other) cancers?

Just goes to prove Darwin was right.
yes, then use clear over it, wet wnd wild polish only costs 99 cents
I never actually tried it but I have a feeling that it will look uneven...
No. The stuff in reality smears on a surface like nails, and won't last.
NO!! Nails are porous and they will be stained until it grows out.
Yes, go buy a whole pack of sharpies, you will look beautiful and you can blend all the colors together to make a color never even before seen in the whole world ever.

Oh don't worry about the toxicity levels of the ink, you really will not get too poisoned by absorbing them into your bloodstream.
thats is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. people do it but it looks so tacky . why would you even think of putting something like that on your nails. its not going to look to impressive when they are stained a color that you use. i wouldnt if i were you . Dont ruin your nails go to a dollar store or thrift store if your that desperate to be cheap .

    black goes with anything
If you have short nails, I would recommend you to go for dark nail colors. Short nails + Dark color = cuteness!

I think dark plum or dark red would look beautiful.

If you're adventurous, go for cherry red, or want to go less regal-style but more understated and classy, you can go with dark chocolate brown too.

    Good luck, have fun!
Red nails always look great with black. This looks the best when your nails are on the shorter side and the edges are squared off a bit.

Or, you could always opt for a soft, simple, pale ballerina-like pink.

    Enjoy the wedding!
i personally think tat jus paintin transparent wld look realli great.. as ur black dress n bow wld stand out.. a simple transparent nail can make u stand out jus as well, it's transparent n glossy!

How do i remove nail varnish from leather?

You may be lucky and find that it peels off depending what type of leather you have. If it does it may still leave a mark or remove the colour.

Nail varnish remover will definitely remove the pigment from your suite as well as the nail varnish, you will then have another difficult problem to resolve. No available cleaners for leather will remove this type of damage so you have to resort to solvents which like the nail varnish remover will remove pigment. Therfore this is a job for a trained leather technician.

Contact LTT on 01423 881027 to find a trained technician in your area if you are in the UK. Please be warned that any DIY remedies you find WILL damage your suite and it is best left to the professionals. How do i remove nail varnish from leather?

What are the most fashionable nail varnish colours for this autumn/winter?

thanks xWhat are the most fashionable nail varnish colours for this autumn/winter?
Darker tones, brights are out!! Dark crimsons and purple, steele grays, and browns OR nearly pale colors like nude, pale pale peach and light light pink. Look at the nails on model in high fashion magazines and photos from fashion week cat walks. What are the most fashionable nail varnish colours for this autumn/winter?
New colors come out all the time, just like new fashions come out all the time. The trick is to go shopping for some new stuff and pick some things you genuinely like. Then, you will have something suitable to your taste that is also new on the fashion curve, so you will be quite up to date and you will be yourself at the same time.

Sometimes, the fashions that are available do not appeal to us. We just don't like them. I know it is like that with shoes and boots, for me. I just don't like most of the new shoe designs.
I have read in magazines black and deep purple, generally very dark colours.

    Hope i can help :)
this season purple is going to be big (so I've heard) and also neons and bright jewel tones

So what's your opinion, which is the best nail varnish?Nail Varnish, which one is the best?
Revlon. Goes on smooth and even and is very shiny. Rimmel is the worst I ever used! Very thick and goes on lumpy. The brush is terrible, too.Nail Varnish, which one is the best?

How do i get red nail varnish off a bed?

    quickly!?

xHow do i get red nail varnish off a bed?
You don't - it won't come out, and if you use nail polish remover, it will just bleach the wood. How do i get red nail varnish off a bed?
Nail polish is just like any other lacquer. It鈥檚 not easily removed.

Nail polish remover will take it off, but it will also likely remove any paint or varnish from the object the nail polish is on. If it鈥檚 on wood, it can also be sanded off; this too will damage the finish of the item you鈥檙e sanding.
Use a chisel and a hammer.
polish remover -but it may take off all the paint or stain.

What is better - pale nail varnish or pinky/red varnish on a girl's nails (for a date)?

Are red/deep pink nails sexier to a man or plain pale nails? What is better - pale nail varnish or pinky/red varnish on a girl's nails (for a date)?
Deep Red ............. any girl wearing deep red nail polish guarentees shes getting some of the 'dave s' treatment. You know the kind where you wake up the following morning not quite able to work out why your pelvic muscles are so sore .......What is better - pale nail varnish or pinky/red varnish on a girl's nails (for a date)?
If your nails are a long, a good shape, and in good condition, consider just polishing them with a buffer (pad and powder).

The last time bright colours were the fashion and EVERYONE had red nails, even grandmothers, one of the nicest compliments I ever got was ';how beautiful to see such lovely natural nails';.(and then he didn't let go of my hand).
I would definitly say coloured nails show a lot more of a personality than nothing!!

I never leave the house without a colour on my nails!! At the moment the bright lollipop colours are in so... reds, oranges, pinks!!!!

Choose a colour that will contrats your outfit and get that needed attention! You find it brings a new confidence to you!!
red is a bit loud, unless you want to be loud and its also too obvious almost every lady wears red polish... pale vanish is kinda too dull for a date. i would go for pink polish its perfect for a date. its not too loud neither is it dull by at the end of the day its your choice...
hey it all depends on what your wearing. watever matches your outfit best. i dont think guys will really care, their eyes will be drawn to wear you create the focus. so if its your hair, eyes, but in a pair of jeans or cleavage in a pretty dress.

if it doesnt really matter, i suggest french tips, most men iv dated think they look classy and show that the girl likes to look after herself.

    :)
Well, as a girl... I don't think guys are looking at your nails.. Hahah

But, I say clear, fully painted nails I don't think look good... ever thought of fremch tips? In red?! Hehe I love french tips
I like those fake ones, but proberbly out of those 2 pink.
Depends what your fingers are wrapped around as to whether i would like pink or plain.
depends on the guy. but mostly pale nail varnish will make u seem mature and stable.
    I think red:)

How to make ur nails whiter without nail varnish?

my nails are really thin and they are a clear colour and i was just wondering how to make them whiterHow to make ur nails whiter without nail varnish?
i heard drinking milk makes them whiter...

one time i drank nothing but milk for a week and my nails got a lott whiter but idk it might just be a coincidence.. hahaHow to make ur nails whiter without nail varnish?
The healthy diet is key. Everyone is diferent, and since nutrition is like a puzzle, as in some vitamins dont really stay with us and get utilized properly unless other elements that work with them are present, studying good eating habits, and learning more on what works with what can greatly help, but it all takes time.

There is no magical cure all for any body changes people want, nail strength and color or losing weight, clearer skin or over all health.

Nails take months to completely grow out. Start drinking knox gelitan, eating jello too. Daily vitamins are very essential, get one though that is appropriate for your age group. Not super vitamins that are too overloaded. Prenatal vitamins are great, they are for anyone to take too, not expensive really either. They just have good combinaitons of things.
Try this method: Fill a bowl with enough lemon juice to cover your fingernails. Next, wash your hands, scrubbing under the nails.Soak your nails in lemon juice for about 2 minutes or until your nails are noticeably whiter. Remove hands and wash with mild soap and water. Cover hands with hand lotion. Good luck!
Eat healty. More vegetables and fruits. Being healthier always works.
eat jello...it make it grow faster, cleaner, and whiter:)

Yes you can! If you had acrylics done, the nail polish remover would have ';eaten'; away at the product. That's the beauty about gels, use all the remover you want! Can i remove the nail varnish from my fake nails?
you can. since they used gels (and not acrylic) the acetone will be fine to use. the only way to remove gels is to buff it off.
yes you can, nail varnish remover. make sure it is acetone free and then this will just remove the colour. acetone removes the actual false nail. (look at nail and glue removers and it will contain acetone)

than other types of nail varnish? Are there any girls out there that like to wear dark colored nail varnish? like black? do you wear it more?
I like to wear either really dark wines or browns, or really really light pinks or creams. Medium colored nails make me feel old. I would wear darks more than the light pinks, but I'm an x-ray tech and do a lot with my hands so chips in the dark varnish are waaaayy more noticeable than with a light color. If I'm off for a few days, I'd rather go dark. Are there any girls out there that like to wear dark colored nail varnish? like black? do you wear it more?
ido!! and yes!!!! i weir it non stop!!!
I wear all sorts of random nail varnish, it just depends on what clothes/how i feel.

We have black, white, red, purple, blue, neon green, dark green, silver...
Yeah, when I'm on holiday I wear dark purple or black (with a base coat), but I go to boarding school and we get in trouble if we wear it here.
it depends on my mood. right now im wearing this whitish almost nude colored nail varnish, but i wear black pretty often.
yea i wear black or maroon
i almost never wear pale nail varnish, it's too girly for me. i like black, dark red, dark green, or else really bright like emerald, peacock blue, yellow...
yes, i wear black and dark red all the time :)
yeah prefer dark, it suits my skin tone
I do, it is mostly for girls/women who dress more unique, or dark. I am just unique ;D
i love this dark red one, but it stains my nails, so i wear a base coat, that way i can keep on wearing it.
I do! I think dark nail varnish stands out more and makes more of a statement! It can show your personality and make you the individual you are! xx
Black nail polish is very popular now, its very much in vogue. You should be seeing lots of actress's and models in magazines wearing it.
it depends.. not usually.but sometimes it can look cute.. i guess it depends with what im wearing
I wear dark nail varnish - but it chips which sucks!
i love dark red nail varnish
I love dark colours on my nails, and since I have very, very pale skin, it's more of a contrast. Contrast is always sexy. I ALWAYS put down a clear base coat and let it dry before the dark shade, or else the nails will be stained and yellowed. That's *not* sexy. But, yeah, I'm 27, a professional writer, and I still LOVE black nail polish! OPI's Black Satin is great, or OPI's Black Tie Optional are my two favourites.

Can you put on and take off nail varnish on acrilic false nails without staining them?

I am a nail tech, the best way is to use a base coat then the colour of your choice than a top coat to protect, also you must use acetone free nail polish remover no it shouldn't stain your acrylics! Can you put on and take off nail varnish on acrilic false nails without staining them?
if it's a light colour you might, but I always find that if you have those french ones, it removes the white, even if you use acetone free removerCan you put on and take off nail varnish on acrilic false nails without staining them?
you can but not with any nail varnish remover you can buy one designed for acrylic nails if u use ordinary remover the acrylics will disintergrate and melt not good
    No
    yes

but dont like drown your finger

put enough on or else it will loosen the nail
Yes you can but to avoid staining you should always apply a base coat first.
I think you can get a special anti acidic varnish remover which won't stain them, or you can use one but don't drown your finger in it, use cotton wool tips.
oh yeah but you may have to rub your nails a little harder .here is a tip put on some moisturising cream on your hands before using chemicals to take off polish lol
its not so much staining that will be a problem more that it will start to disinergrate them! (with normal remover) putting a dark nail varnish on for a long period will stain them but this will also stain normal nails too.

you need to use a good quality acetone free nail polish remover (some wil say on them suitable for acrilic / false nails)

What do you think of OPI Nail varnish?

I'm a new user of OPI and I'm really surprised how good it is compared to others I've tried.

    What are your favourite colours?

I'm currently wearing a discontinued one called I LOVE THE HOLS

Also how long will it stay on for?

ThanksWhat do you think of OPI Nail varnish?
i love OPI my sister has loads of it but i can't chose my fave, it stays on for ages like 2 weeks especially when you apply a coat of clear over the color :DWhat do you think of OPI Nail varnish?
Hey! I love OPI too, but I find that my nailpolish will chip if I dont put a clear coating over it. Then it stays fine, though :) good luck
my mother-in-law will use no other...

HOW DO YOU GET BRIGHT PINK NAIL VARNISH OUT OF CREAM CARPET?

i was painting my nails and must of spilt loads and not noticed and came up back about 4 hours later, its dried, my parents have killed me for it. but how do i get it out! BRIGHT PINKHOW DO YOU GET BRIGHT PINK NAIL VARNISH OUT OF CREAM CARPET?
Hire a professional who uses Pro's Choice Pro Solv Gel and has experience removing nail polish....the longer you wait the less likely it will come out....also the more products you use the less likely it will come out

It needs to be dissolved and extracted...most consumer products cannot remove it!!!HOW DO YOU GET BRIGHT PINK NAIL VARNISH OUT OF CREAM CARPET?
If there's a lot then you may struggle. Use nail polish remover and have plenty of clean white cloths. An old white sheet, cut up, is ideal. Don't use coloured cloth or you could end up transferring dyes. Put enough remover on the affected are to soften the varnish then rub from the outside edge of the stain towards the middle. (If you rub from the centre outwards you will simply enlarge the stained area.) Repeat this again and again, using a clean piece of cloth each time. Don't use brushes or scrub the area hard - if you damage the pile you can't put it right.
NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can get a little bit of it up with nail polish remover: BUT the trick is this

    - get the stain wet - damp

    - spray a ton of hair spray over the stain, let it sit for a second, don't let it dry of course

    - take a bristled brush and scrub scrub scrub... i used a toothbrush (old one of course)

    did that twice...

then I got it wet again - damp

pour hydrogen peroxide - and scrubbed again

    my carpet looks brand new

it didn't bleach out my carpet, looks like it did before i spilled! Trust me !!!!!!!!!!! do it !
Nail varnish remover. It can't be made worse, so it's worth a try. Just scrub and scrub. If that doesn't work... white spirit? That works for removing paint. And maybe bleach the carpet as a last resort? Obviously next time paint your nails over a box or a magazine or newspaper or something.

Good luck, I really hope you can get it out!

    xoxox
Lol, I once saw a show where someone spilt something on the carpet and they took a picture of the normal carpet and stuck it on the patch where it spilt :L Sorry, can't really help you there. :P
It probably will never come out. I would try blotting it with nail polish remover and a paper towel. Or see if they have a rug stain remover spray.

Brown eyeliner, gold eyeshadow and blue nail varnish?

I want to buy a medium brown coloured eyeliner stick (not liquid), some light gold shimmery eyeshadow, and some blue nail polish (a cornflower blue colour). Could you tell me which are the cheapest brands I could get these things from and also where I could buy them?

Any help would be totally appreciated.

Thanks in advance :) xBrown eyeliner, gold eyeshadow and blue nail varnish?
Look at Barry M for the pale nail varnish, they're pretty good.

For eyeliner stick, I use primer so tend to get whichever but Miss Sporty doesn't last without primer. I'd try Relon or Bourjois as they last all day without a primer :)

For gold eyeshadow, yet again I use primer so go for cheaper ones, they're not cheap as such but worth the money.. Sleek do pallettes %26amp; they've got a shimmer one with different golds %26amp; colours in it. About 拢5 but very good! Mineral too :)

Or L'oreal do a nice gold, I have this too. Miss Sporty have a nice gold but yet again, needs a primer tbh.

Rimmel does okay gold eyeshadows %26amp; their eyeliners OK but not amazing.Brown eyeliner, gold eyeshadow and blue nail varnish?
NYX brand is the cheapest and they have all the cool colors MAC does. They also have eyeshadows, eyeliners and nailpolish. Probably will cost you around $7 for everything.
If you have a bodycare near you thats real cheap 拢1 per item of makeup. Claires and extras are cheap better than boots and superdrug there quite expensive esp boots. Try markets if there ever is one near you there dead cheap on them.
    superdrug, boots etc.

  • Nail varnish says 'Apply base coat' - does this mean I HAVE to?

I know it prevents from staining, but I don't have any base coats.

Can I apply a layer of light pink nail varnish on the bottom before putting on my purple one?Nail varnish says 'Apply base coat' - does this mean I HAVE to?
u can use the pink as a base if u want to, but the base coat is just to help the paint last longer and keep from chipping, but u could also just use a clear coat as the base and the top coat.Nail varnish says 'Apply base coat' - does this mean I HAVE to?
But surely putting light pink varnish underneath is the same as putting the purple directly on.

I wouldn't worry. I don't put it on. And I use dark and bright colours like Blue, black, purple, hot pink.

    And my nails are fine.

If you have top coat you could use that as a base? It's clear and doesn't stain.

One coat of clear nail varnish will stop the purple from staining your nails.
Just a coat of clear polish will do. Or a really light color. Yeah, light pink will work :)

Help my son just put nail varnish all over my leather sofa how do i get it off?

i have tried nail varnish remover it hasnt worked!!!!!!!Help my son just put nail varnish all over my leather sofa how do i get it off?
Basically you have redyed the leather. If the nail polish will not peel off then it will need to be removed with solvents which will also remove finish and pigment which will then need replacing.

This job is best left to a qualified leather technician.

You should not try using nail varnish remover as this will definitely damage the finish on your leather. If it does remove the varnish it will also remove finish and pigment.

Please call a leather specialist to fix this.

hahahaha , did you stub ur toe Bubba !!

Di xxWhat`s your opinion on woman who paint their toe-nails with black nail varnish?
I think it's ridiculous. It looks a little like what my big toenail looked like before it fell off when i smashed it playing racquetball.
not for me but people should be themselves
    What about black finger nails?
    i dont like it personally

but it's up to the person themselves =)
I think it is a matter of personal taste. And really, what is it to you if someone else wants to paint their toe nails and whatever colour. Don't sweat the small stuff dude.
    its called fashion
maybe they think it makes them look sexy!
i think its cool, if you can pull it off in a non-emoish way then why not.
me + black nail polish = best friends :] x
i think she never wash her toes
    psycho
I think it's actually pretty trendy right now. You'll see a lot of very dark reds, almost black, out now, along with some deep dark blues. It's a last hurrah for the fall looks - then we'll switch to the sheer pinks and bright corals for spring and summer.

Those women are doing something a little different, and if they are done neatly and carefully, then I like how they look. Black is a color too and you'll see it on goths and fashionistas alike - it's an equal-opportunity color and anyone can rock it if they have the guts. If you don't like it, that's all good - it's all about preferences. You know what you like and that rocks too I'm sure.
I'm not keen on painted toenails full stop. It just shows that the person has way too much time on their hands and no hobbies if they take off their shoes and socks and have painted toenails. It could be acceptable in summer with open shoes but what is the point if you cover them up?
Blacktoes intolerant...can you still drink milk? What about black milk? What about cheesy black toes? xx
If you have nice feet it can look edgy and quite sexy but if you have not very nice feet it can look awful..each to their own i think..but personaly i love it and paint mine black all the time..but i have been told i have very nice shaped feet !! if thats possible
i sometimes paint my toes black with white polka dots. i think it looks nice and frankly don't care if any-one else has a problem with it. if your so bothered about it throw nail varnish remover on them/
Well, it's not that great...but it's better than nothing.

nail varnish remover will lift it out
    Try acetone.
Soak the spot in nail varnish remover. You may have to do a few times, so soak, wash, soak wash. Also instead of washing it in the washing machine, hand wash it and scrub it with a nail brush. Should be fine as it is cotton.

Why is ethyl ethanoate in nail varnish not extracted from fruit like apples and banans?

';probably'; price and sessionsWhy is ethyl ethanoate in nail varnish not extracted from fruit like apples and banans?
    ethyl ethanoate

Colourless liquid prepared by adding a mixture of alcohol and ethanoic acid to a mixture of alcohol and strong sulphuric acid, the whole being heated to 140掳C/284掳F. It is the most common member of the esters. Ethyl ethanoate is characterized by a pleasant fruity odour and was formerly used for flavouring sweets and wines, and in perfumes. It is also a useful solvent. It is also known as ethyl acetate.

P.S. ethanoic acid is acetic acid (what makes vinegar sour)

Perhaps if it does exist in apples and bananas, it is in minute quantities and easier to obtain elsewhere?

Good Christ! What happened? Gently bath their face with a warm wet towel. If the nail varnish is cheap it should peel off. If not, use some Johnson's baby oil. Just be gentle and don't use nail varnish remover! It would be lethal if it got near their eyes, nose, mouth or even their skin.
try lemon juice diluted in warm water, if not try a gentle sugar scrub with warm water and finish off with a little bit of gentle non chemical soap on a soft clean cloth! Im sure your wise enough not to use NAIL POLISH REMOVER on your 2 year olds face!! imagine what it does to your nails?! You may as well throw vodka over him/her! PLEASE DO NOT listen to idiot above!! • Does anyone know how to heal discoloured nails caused by nail varnish?

ive had discoloured nails for about a month now caused by using an old nail varnish, was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get rid of the problemDoes anyone know how to heal discoloured nails caused by nail varnish?
If it was really caused by the varnish ( and not a fungal infection) , then it is an easy fix. Leave your nails bare for awhile, no polish, no varnish at all. Also, take your vitamins to help your nails get healthy again.

Does anyone know how to heal discoloured nails caused by nail varnish?
Hi there is no way you can get rid of it appart from letting the nail grow out, I had discoloured nails from using dark nail varnishes all the time, so I just started to use clear for a while and let the nail grow and they were back to normal, I nevefr use a dark colour nail varnish now without using a base coat first lol
I have stained my nails from nail polish and if you buff them with all four sides of the buffer they should look better. Also, don't use nail polish for a while to give them time to grow out some.
Use nail varnish remover and cotton wool. Use cuticle oil to keep them in top condition. Also wash you hands with a nice kind soap and moisturise with a nice lotion.
Buff your nails and use a good lotion. (I use ocean potion) Even clear polish will discolor your nails if left on too long. The nails need some air. The polish will dry them out.
try using a new nail varnish...
    lemon juice
try some lemon juice 4 like 5mins to bleach them a bit

Best way to dry nail varnish?

How can I dry my normal nail varnish quickly?Best way to dry nail varnish?
Wash your hands in cold water. It really works.Best way to dry nail varnish?
Run up and down the stairs flapping your hands like a loon. Try not to fall over or smear the walls. And don't wear your stilettos or you'll do both..
    put an acetone....yeah!.....its effective....!
    Blow dryer or fan.
fill the sink with cold water before you paint them when done place your hands in for a few seconds it helps them dry quickly
    wipe it on your jeans
    hairdryer, blow heater
fill a bowl with ice water and stick ur fingers in it. they will dry within minutes
    A nail dryer.
you can blow on your nails or get one of the new nail dryers. i think they are available from boots and argos
hairdryer oh but put it on cold if you have it otherwise it burns your fingers
In the fan! or air dryed
From a Beauty Therapist's point of view, the blowdryer/ fan thing makes them bubble. So does the cold water if put in too soon ar varnish is too thick.

suggestion 1) I'd say if you can, paint the base and first coat the night before, then finish with the second colour coat and top coat in the morning. this will allow it to dry between.

suggestion 2) The other thing is to paint thin coats of each layer.

suggestion 3) You can get quickdry sprays from any good store. ';Sallys'; one is particularly good.

To prevent chipping, paint each coat along the edge of the nail too.
plunge your hands into a basin of ice cold water.
The quickest way is to fill up your sink with cold water. After you have painted your nails, gently place your hands palm down into the water and keep them there for a couple of minutes.

    NO!

How can I avoid dry, broken, splitting nails? I do not use nail varnish.?

Eat a better diet....particularly calcium enriched foods and zinc. Broccoli, sprouts, cabbage and seeds. How can I avoid dry, broken, splitting nails? I do not use nail varnish.?
eat a better diet and i kno it sounds odd but rub petrolium jelly on them every night. strange but true!!!How can I avoid dry, broken, splitting nails? I do not use nail varnish.?
change your diet for a healthier one. Drink plenty of milk and eat cheese for extra calcium.
Eat a pack of raw jelly, it works and tastes nice too, just like eating fruit pastilles, it works because of the gelatine in it.
It seems like you have brittle nails u can take some vitamins for healthy nails not sure what the are and also try some sally hansen nail polish I am sure they have one for brittle nails to soften ur nails it will also protect ur nails and help them to grow.
You can prevent or treat them with nail hardeners. They work.
use moisturising cream and a good cuticle oil
You need to change your diet to incorporate extra calcium and zinc found in dairy products and green veg. Drink lots of water. If you use you hands a lot, especially washing the dishes, use gloves if you can't keep the water temp to luke warm and use a good moisturiser. Bluff your nails every so offen, if you are busy like me and don't have a lot of time rub it gently in a rolling motion with your other hand or in a stroking motion on your clothes. This acts a bit like massage and increase blood flow to your nails which hopefully promotes healthier looking nail.
Use a good hand cream regularly and you can buff your nail weekly.
brittle nails usually mean lack of calcium in your diet. You can either increase you intake of calcium in your diet, or for best results you can take a supplement especially for nails, from any local health food shop.

I get this problem in the winter and somehow my nails are fine in the summer.

Where I live, winters are very dry and summers are very humid.

My nails seem fine in summer despite the humidity, so I can't work it out, despite asking various doctors.

What helps me a lot, though, is using rubber gloves for handling major water-related tasks in winter, such as washing the dishes, or washing the windows or even watering the plants. For anything minor and delicate, I use surgical gloves; they feel just like a second skin and are inexpensive, re-usable, and easy to work with.

As soon as I remove them, I put on hand-cream.

If your problem is really bad, your doctor might prescribe you some steroid ointment to rub into the cuticles. It will pave the way ahead, but don't rely on it for too long.
I take multivitiams and they have made my nails really strong, so try that

cut the ends first of all.........eat very vitamin and mineral foods...it will help to teeth ,hair, also nails as well
Its alot more expensive than Sally Hansen (which by the way i think is rubbish), but you should look into getting some ProStrong nail products. They are in my experience the best on the market. They offer all sorts of different types of nail product but if you buy one of the kits, you get everything you need to start off with and then, if you feel like adding to it you can. I used to have really crappy nails, never growing because they were really thin and kept on splitting and peeling, then I saw this stuff on QVC and bought some, within a month my nails were like new, thicker, stronger, not peeling and actually growing! You should definately give it a try. Have a look on QVC website http://www.qvcuk.com/ukgasp/frameset.asp?nest=%2Fukgasp%2FIsItemNumberRedirect.asp%26amp;country=uk%26amp;txtDesc=prostrong and have a look.

use nail polish remover BUT FIRST! surround the nail polish with sudocream or such like. get a soft cloth and some hot soapy water. put A ';LITTLE'; REMOVER onto the end of a Q tip and gently rub over the polish then quickly rub off with hot soapy water. If all is removed use a good furniture polish and soak the leather then wipe off. You need to be extremely quick with wiping the remover off or you could lift some of the colour out of the sofa's.How do u get nail varnish off leather sofas?
Never use furniture polish on leather furniture as this will damage the finish because it contains silicones.

Sudocream will also not do the finsih any good and on an aniline could make the problem far worse.

If you can find a loose edge on the varnish it will sometimes just peel off. If it will then it may take some colour/finish with it and this will need fixing.

If this does not happen then the area will need recolouring and this is best left to the qualified technicians.

Using nail varnish remover or other solvents will remove finish and/or pigment with the nail varnish and this would then need to be fixed.
If its wet wipe it up with nail varnish remover, if its dry you might get away with scraping it off gently

the only thing i can think of is nail polish remover, hope u get it out.
    clean with spirit
Take it to a professional dry cleaner and tell them what the stain is. They are the most likely to remove it without harming the garment and will tell you if it cannot be removed.
polish remover or white spirit - may take colour out of clothes though
if it is not delicate try some nail polish remover
Funny you should say this--my daughter poured lipstick red polish all over our clothes one day, and even using acetone, mineral spirits, toluene and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) nothing fully removed it. The paint base may come out, but the pigment which is ground up and mixed with the paint base, stays. It formed halos as the stain migrated through the fabric. I'm sorry.

Why does nail varnish have 2 small balls inside it?

I know it has something to do with shaking the bottle.....Why does nail varnish have 2 small balls inside it?
    so it'll mix better

i've always thought it was so you can hear it's shaking up and down and no it's mixing properly... i guess that's wrong, but it reassures me. when i dont hear it i feel weirdWhy does nail varnish have 2 small balls inside it?
It's for when your nail varnish goes all different colours, like if it starts to split up (it's hard to explain) If it goes all watery, and if it's quite old it will probably do this.. just shake it and it just help to mix it back together.
it is to mix it all the chemicals inside it like there is water in there and stuff so sometimes the water flows at the top and you get a really watery vanish and its not good so when you mix it it is all right
I don't think its to do with Colour its to stop the varnish drying up and making it the right consistency not to thick or to runny . :)
Shaking it will mix the ingredients properly.
its to mix up all the stuff in them, so you don't get a bad pale colour that's uneven, you get a consistent colour
    To make the colour smootehr.
It's to help mix the color
    to help mix it

    Really sexy
For the most part, men don't care or even notice. You are only impressing yourself and/or other girls.
    Don't even notice either way!
it depends on who your dating like me, i think ugly nails are --- ugly... just keep em neat and short and im happy :D like i clip my nails but i think its kind of a little girl thing to put beads and stickers and make weird designs... I don't let it get to my head
As with any make up tastes vary. I like shiny nails on girls, yeah it's sexy.

I got it all over my covers and I used Vanish for white clothes and that helped quite a bit. I soaked it for a long time in hot water and it does go a little bit. They have Vanish in the spray version as well and that helps a bunch too. I did try nail polish remover but it only helps on things other than clothes. For me, it just spread the varnish even more. Anyway, give it a go.How do u get nail varnish out of clothes??
It's pretty much ruined. You could soak it with remover if it's happened recently and is still wet, other wise you could use a nail file to file it off but you might end up with a fluffy hole in your hoody. I'd give that a go.
Acetone from the chemist will remove it.
    try stain devil
