How to get nail varnish off a wooden desk?

I've only just dropped red nail polish on my wooden computer desk. I got some toilet tissue and got most of it off, but there's a red smudge on there now. I just don't want my mum to see it. I daren't use nail varnish remover in case I damage the wood. How to get nail varnish off a wooden desk?
Put the nail varnish remover (acetone, basically) on a Q tip and very CAREFULLY touch it to the smudge, which you'll then wipe away with a warm, damp paper towel

Voila--problem solved. How to get nail varnish off a wooden desk?
I actually did that to mine

but i used nail polish remover as well and there isn't any effect to the wood itself. You may try it by putting a small drop and see if anything happens but I doubt it.

Nail polish remover affects painted walls and wall paper though.

but if you are really afraid, I suggest you to use some rubbing alcohol and just try to rub it with a hard cloth. Something like the texture of jeans would do great!

Good luck on removing it :)
