Oh I hate that too - who doesn't?! It just takes such a bloody long time to do nails, right?
One way in speeding up the whole drying process is to run painting. It'll get them to the stage where you can lightly touch them without smudging but don't go doing anything intense like..I dunno....wearing gloves, lets say.
Another thing I have is this special nail spray. You spray it onto your nails after painting them and it drys them. I got it from Avon, it's great!
Hope this helps...=/Any advice to stop nail varnish mushing?
Thanks for choosing mine as the best answer here but y'know I feel kinda stupid as I've put ';run painting'; what I meant is RUN THEM UNDER THE HAIRDRYER AFTER PAINTING. I dunno if I really did put that or my PC is just being weird...sorry if I did put that...:S

yes...let the first coat dry totally before applying the 2nd coat. after that...maybe an hour later - apply a clear glossy top coat to make it shine.
alternatively...get them painted with gel polish at the nail shop...this lasts weeks %26amp; weeks...good stuff.
always dry each coat before putting on the next, sit still till it is totally dry, patience!
Keep your nail varnish in the fridge
Wait a bit longer between coats, let 1 dry fully first
Put it in the fridge.
werid im just painting my nails now! haha ur, have you tried that clear gloss stuff, always helps me..
thats always so annoying! just try and make your layers much thinner...just sweeping the brush along your nail and not just depositing it on...try and use as few layers as you can get away with, because it only mushes up when there is excess paint on the top. try letting each layer completely dry...if all else fails, get a 'rock hard' varnish or one that is advertised as being indestructible...barry M and rimmel do pretty good ones:)
Use the French Manicure Technique -
Paint your nails by using three strips for each coat. Then, after you have applied the top coat rest your hand on the towel for fifteen minutes - If you want to watch televsion in this time, make sure it is already on!
try doing thiner coats and a quick drying products
stay away form Sally Hanson though that brand tests on animals
You might be putting each layer on too thick. It's better to put each layer on lightly. AND you have to let it dry well in between layers. There are some nail polishes out now that dry quickly so try one of them - they will say they dry quickly on the packaging. OR try one of the sprays that dries your nail polish quickly. (Sorry, I don't know the name brand.) Then use a quick drying Top Coat. By the way, if you wear nail polish that is dark or has very much red in it, use a Base Coat (specifically made to wear under nail polish) first to keep it from bleeding into your nails.
I used to always get that
i just got that quick drying nail varnish? never had the problem again!
You have to let each coat dry completely before applying another - have you tried that quick dry spray? Also, I find that ironing makes my nail polish shrink back so I am presuming that the steam and heat has an effect on it. Better quality nail polishes are better - I use OPI nail products, which are more expensive but are definitely more cost effective.
I used to do that all the time. After spending half an hour shaping, painting and glossing i'd ruin it! So annoying.
I've now bought a rapid dry spray which is amazing!
After you've finished painting you just spray this over your nails and they're dry!
It's by Elegant Touch and it's called Rapid Dry. I bought it in sainsburys, i'm sure you could get it in boots or superdrug.
