How do I get black nail varnish off a cream sofa?

My niece has got a nail art set which has a special hard wearing varnish in it which stamps design s on the nail - the kind you get in salons. She's spilt it on my sister's cream fabric sofa - how do we get it off please? Normal nail varnish remover is having no effect at all! My sister is trying to give up smoking and this isn't helping!!How do I get black nail varnish off a cream sofa?
If you can remove the cover I would do this %26amp; take to a good dry cleaner. If this is an option do not mess with it first as this will often ';set'; the stain.

However if you must DIY:

Get under couch. Put a little more polish on a part that is not visible. Make sure that neither side of the part to be tested is visible as the stain will eventually soak through fabric to the other side. Allow to dry then test removal system below. If it makes an unholy mess, consider Option 2.

Option 1

Some countries do not allow acetone in remover any more so perhaps your ';normal'; nail polish remover does not contain this. You would need to get some to loosen the stain. The problem is that it is quite likely to make a real mess and spread through the fabric. Put liquid on paper towels and blot onto fabric (Do NOT rub). If dried on you will need a lot. Remove using heaps of bicarbonate soda to soak the stained solvent away. Vacuum off.

Seriously, however if the sofa is at all valuable I would get this done by a professional.

Option 2

If your test shows that the fabric just cannot be cleaned I would go over the top of the stain using colour matched paint and a fine brush. This will not be an ideal solution but better than taking a small black stain and turning it into a giant grey and black stain. Some reccommend white out correction fluid but I disagree as this gets very grubby later.
