i once kept some really strong stuff on for over 3/4 weeks and my nails were fine !! (if a little too long!)
Using a basecoat will prevent stains and the polish will adhere better, look better, last longer.
well your nails are constantly growing so i dont think it matters too much... i always leave clear on and my nails are fine... its really up to you
no longer than 6 months.. i left it on for a year once and now my nails are brittle and yellow:(
